The Fruitless Tree

Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, “Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?’ (Luke.13.7)

The very aim of planting economic trees is to harvest fruits that can be sold or eaten. When that is not possible due to lack of fruit, the best bet would be to get rid of it. The farmer in the above passage sought to do that to the tree he planted. The tree is the believer that God has planted in choice places that has refused to bring forth fruit.

As humans, we try not to run unprofitable businesses. Permit me to say that God is the most astute businessman you will ever find. At a time, he invested so much in a man, the man died with part of the investment, then a dead child was buried in his grave and the boy came back to life. God reaped the benefits of his investment to the last.

See the graphic picture of the righteous,

He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.

Beloved, there is an expectation of heaven from your life, that you bear fruit. It is not negotiable hence you need to take it serious. God is committed to your success but you have to be committed to His kingdom as well. He is a wise God who watches over His investments. Every tree that refuses to bear fruit will be considered unfit to continue to occupy space. Think about it.
