I have a mentee who confided in me that a guy was interested in her. From our discussion, the guy wasn’t getting certain things right. Due to my position, I had the privilege of reaching out to the guy, to offer few words of counsel. I did. Then offered him a book that could help improve his knowledge in the areas of need.
Surprisingly, he took on the lady and began to express his displeasure. He wondered if the lady was not matured enough to handle issues of relationship on her own. Of course, she reported the issue back to me. I just laughed.
Having a mentor doesn’t make you a weak person, rather it makes you a smart person. It takes a smart person to know his/her weaknesess and seek help. Needless to say, the relationship didn’t work out.
The same way you go to school to learn and master a subject, that is what a mentor do to you informally. They teach and coach you in specific areas that improves your knowledge and standard of living. Do you have a mentor?
Learning from the right person will reduce your wasted years, pains, enhance your capacity and fastrack your growth. Having a mentor doesn’t make you a fool, rather it makes you wiser, if you learn correctly and adhere to Instructions.
