Spirit of Excellence
And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.” (Mark.7.37)
The testimony of the people about Jesus is that he has done all things well. there was such a huge display of excellence and passion that could not be refuted even among his critics. The spirit of excellence was found in him, as well, everyone who believes in him can walk in such spirit. The only provision to achieve this is by yielding to the leading of God in our hearts. Jesus healed people and commanded them to remain quiet about it. Difficult as it was to keep the miracles, it was not his desire to have accolades from people.
A major characteristics of the nature of excellence is that, it doesn’t seek undue recognition. The works done are allowed to speak without interference. For example, the works of God reveal his greatness. There is no need for special advertisment to show how great God’s work is to humanity. We see them and we know them. Blessed be God. When we are operating in the spirit of excellence, we will naturally exude quality expression in our dealings.
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men (Col.3.23).
The pursuit of excellence begins by offering quality service to God which requires going the extra mile rather than mere attempt to please people. It requires much more to please God and in doing that, we will surpass the expectations of people thereby achieving the much coveted excellence.
