Compelled by Love

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died (2Cor.5.14).

For many people, to do things by law or under compulsion is the acceptable norm. Soon as they are at liberty to do it, they take it for granted. The mind conditioning is that once it is an obligation, defaulting will mean there are repercussions. This fear drives many to serve God. They do spiritual things as a matter of obligation.

Meanwhile, we are called to walk in love. We fellowship with Him in love. All that we are called to do or live after Christ’ death and resurrection must come from the point of love. It must come from the conviction that since Christ died for all. We pray, give, obey and do all things because we are constrained by the Love of God to do those things. We are bound by the pleasure to pleased the Father not to impress Him.

The Joy of the Christian faith is found in the Love walk. We are no longer in bondage to sin and fear, we are sons and daughters of God through the Love shown to us. All that we do must therefore stem from the love we have received.

Finally, it is important we accept this unconditional love before we can walk in it. We cannot impress God with our actions. We will do better to simply respond to His love through obedience of faith. That is, believing and yielding to his word rather than focus on the works we do. Let love constrain you.

Savour with Sola John.
