1Pet.5.5 – Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
Humility is an attitude of the mind that cannot be touched but can be seen and felt. It manifests in words and actions. It is like a the silver linen of the soul. Just like a garment, humility can be worn.
Though an attitude of the heart, it speaks volume about the wearer. The opposite of humility is pride. It is not about thinking less of yourself, it is about thinking of yourself less. It is the willingness to consider others first.
Ps.138.6 – Though the LORD is on high, Yet He regards the lowly; But the proud He knows from afar. Even God admires the humble. It is an attitude we must learn. Jesus said we should learn of him because he is meek and lowly in heart. May our heart always yearn for more of God and less of ourselves. It is in that we shall have clothe ourselves with humility.
