IDENTITY

Gen. 32:27. The man asked him, “What is your name?” “Jacob,” he answered.

Identity is key in everything we do, especially our relationship with God. We must understand our identity if we have to occupy our place. What is your name? There are many people and sometimes situations that ask that question from us. They seem to challenge us to introduce ourselves or prove our worth.

Unfortunately, many people don’t know their identity. Some introduces themselves by their profession, “I am a Doctor” while others introduce themselves by their challenges, “I am a Sickler” or “I suffer from arthritis”. Those are not the things that define you. A believer’s indentity is found in Christ.
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me (Gal.2.20).

It is important you discover your identity in Christ because that is the basis upon which God relates with you. When people or circumstances ask to know who you are, respond by what the Bible says you are in Christ. There are times God had to change people’s names because it doesn’t reflect His plan for them. What is your name?

Say with me, “I am who God says I am. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I walk in dominion that Christ got for me from the Cross of Calvary. In me dwell the Spirit of the Living God. I am a testimony to the faithfulness of God.” Amen.

Savour with Sola John.
