Devotional Day 2

Prov. 18:21. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

The ability to speak is one of the distinguishing traits on human beings. It is a means of expression that helps to make clear our intentions. But words can kill and can bring to life.

When Dorcas died in the books of Acts, Peter called her back to Life using words. Jesus healed people using words. Even when God heals, He sends His word to do it. We must place value on the words we speak. They could bring life or kill.

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44).

Words must be spoken in truth and the truth can be found in God’s word. When our words are not grounded in the Word of God, they lack the creative power to do good. Words reflect the state of the heart. Words spoken reveal how healthy or sickly the heart is. A healthy heart speak healthy words. A sick heart has nothing healthy to say.

If you want to speak words that bring life, pay attention to the state of your heart. And the medicine for the heart is the Word of God- Bible.

Let the Word of God dwell richly in your heart so you may speak gracious words.
